12 Days of Thrifty Christmas: Foodie

You don’t have to splurge on a pricey gift card to the best eatery in town for your discerning foodie friend.  Put together a thoughtful, classy gift from thrifted and cheap items instead.

Gift

Thrift a shot glass from an intriguing locale or tourist trap.  Thrift a cool food-safe plate and fill it with assorted holiday treats.  Festive holiday tins are frequently found at the thrift – check the corner seams for rust or crust and use wax paper to line it for your treats.  I also love the idea of thrifting an ugly old tin and repainting it with a cool modern design.  For health nuts, swap out fatty seasonal treats for healthy festive snacks instead.  Check us out on Pinterest for some great holiday recipe ideas, both healthy and indulgent.

Wrapping

Colored cellophane is an easy and chic way to wrap a plate of holiday treats – simply gather at the top with a twist tie disguised with a festive ribbon.

  1. I found a huge he-man style plush bath towel for one of my thrift loving friends for his new studio. Wrapped in his color pillow case. Pretty happy with the way it turned out.
